What is narrow band UVB phototherapy?
Phototherapy with ultraviolet light of UVB type, of narrowband 311-312 nm is widely used in clinics and surgeries to treat skin diseases such as vitiligo, psoriasis, and many types of acne and eczema.
UVB ultraviolet light is directed only to the affected areas of skin, according to the medical advice of dermatologists. It is known that ultraviolet light suppresses the immune system, thus reducing the inflammatory response.
Unlike UVA ultraviolet light (320- 400nm) , UVB light (280-375nm) is more effective by itself, without the need for medication intake along with psoralene or other similar drugs.
Phototherapy with narrow band UVB is limited to a few minutes of lighting of the affected area, with UVB lamp.
A long exposure of the skin to ultraviolet light action is not recommended, because it may cause mild local burning. Always follow your dermatologist indications.
UVB phototherapy in clinic is expensive and has the same effect as UVB phototherapy at home. The second variant is our goal because we want to offer the patients the opportunity to treat in a much more convenient place, at their home.
A study of the researchers showed that home UVB therapy can be considered a good alternative to treatment in clinics, if the indications of the specialist are complied with.
